Pro-Tech has been providing Industrial Flat Panel Computer Workstations to the manufacturing marketplace since 1990. These Workstations are being used in harsh, industrial plant floor environments and in severe outdoor applications such as oil rigs and Petro/chem plants. Pro-Tech has provided products to 90% of U.S. manufacturing companies.

The demands placed on these workstations include:

• Excessive shock and vibration
• Varying temperature extremes (high and low operating temperatures)
• Environmental elements such as water spray, air-borne dirt and corrosive agents
• Direct sun load / glare (makes screen hard to read)
• Tamper-resistant designs
• Various mounting methods that provide for tilt / swivel and cable-through access

The flat panel display and computer technology that is used follows the Intel "industrial" roadmap vs. the commercial roadmap and has been designed with greater thermal, shock and vibration limits.

In essence, Pro-Tech has provided the level of industrial "packaging" required by these companies as well as the rugged computer and display components that have been designed for long-term durability. After all, many of these "applications" are critical and reliability is of paramount importance.

So… what does this mean?

Pro-Tech has now taken this experience and has directly applied it to the emerging use of Kiosks in "Outdoor" environments. We are pleased to introduce a new line of "DuraView" Industrial Kiosks.

Things you should know about the Pro-Tech Duraview Kiosk

The following list will serve to summarize some of the unique "standard" features Pro-Tech offers and should be considered when evaluating an Industrial/Outdoor Kiosk or Workstation. Both designs are fully sealed for use in wet rainy environments.

1. Enclosures are available in anodized aluminum with an industrial powder coat finish, or 316L Stainless Steel. The "L" indicates low carbon content, which further prevents the possibility of rust forming on the surface of the metal work over time.

2. Our unique "Pro-Touch" touch screen mounting design allows the user to interface with the computer with a gloved or bare hand. Safety glass as thick as 1" can be placed in front of the touch screen. The active touch screen field is "Projected through the glass"

3. The Membrane keyboard (if applicable), is constructed on an internal steel plate so that it can take a direct physical blow and not be damaged. Most other keyboards are constructed on a plastic "PCB" board, which, by design, does not hold up well in harsh or rugged environments. Pro-Tech does not rely on the PCB board for strength. Instead we mount the PCB electronics to the underside of the steel plate. The keyboard / touchmouse has an extended warranty of 3 years providing a total of gaurantee on the keyboards of 5 years. Keyboards do take abuse and must hold up over time.

4. We have designed our 12.1" and 15.1" display assembly so that everything can be mounted on a milled mounting bezel, with a milled gasketed perimeter. The LCD display is placed on special shock and vibration mounts, designed specifically for harsh environments. Others may use "commerical grade" LCDs without shock or vibration provisions.

5. Both the 12.1" and 15.1" displays are rated for industrial use and contain backlights which provide 50,000 hours (5.7 years) of life. Others are rated for 25,000 hours. Photo Sensors can be provided for automatic dimming during low ambient light conditions.

6. We include displays with NIT ranges which are considered "high bright" or daylight readable. These displays are rated from 350 to over 900 NITS of brightness for use in direct sunlight.

7. The entire DuraView design is such that the safety glass or the display electronics can be removed and serviced in a "component" form from the rear of the display. This strongly addresses the need to be able to service this workstation in the field.

8. The normal operating temperature of the SlimView integrated computer is 45 degrees C or 112 F. It is a true "industrial grade" computer and can operate in environments up to 112 F without the need for additional cooling. Pro-Tech normally includes (2) internal blowers for continuous air circulation to prevent hot spots.

9. Pro-Tech’s normal lead time is 4-6 weeks ARO.

10. All of Pro-Tech’s manufacturing is done on-site, within our fabrication facility:
