I. They are called Convenience Stores for a reason!

A convenience store and a QSR (sub shop) are housed in the same building. Same owner or different owner, it does not matter. A kiosk is placed outside near the pumps. The application offers several functions

• Allows customers to order specially prepared food items off the touch screen menu which saves the customer time and helps drive customers into the store.
• Advertises daily specials such as discounts on soft drinks and candy which helps drive customers into the store.
• Assists in administering the companies loyalty program by tracking customers and dispensing coupons, which helps drive customers into the store.
• For any number of reasons I do not want to, or I can’t get out of my car. I can order my items, swipe my card or keyfob, and have my items delivered which drives business into the store
  
  ROI? How much more do I make on food items over gasoline only purchases?

II. Play Ball!

Most Stadiums and arenas have open areas both outside and inside. How long do people show up prior to a game or event? How many of them are looking for tickets for today’s game? How many of them are looking at tickets for upcoming events? What if I don’t want to wait forever to get my food? What if I miss some of the action?

• The Kiosk out by the will call window will allow me to purchase tickets for today’s game.
• I can even buy a ticket from the season ticket holder who can’t make the game. Even right before the game!
• I can review upcoming events and purchase tickets for those events. Oh, and I can order my favorite players jersey and have it delivered to the house so I can wear it to the next game.
• Maybe I will play an interactive game or test my trivia skills while I’m waiting for the first pitch
• Check out which replays I missed and the great plays I want to see again.
• Check out the food line! Ill order from the kiosk and pick it up between innings.
  
  ROI? Greater fan loyalty, reduced employee headcount, incremental sales, more efficient customer management.

III. The Quick Serve Restaurant

Do you want to Super size that? If you are like most people, you hate that question!
How about " Welcome to ……….be right with you"? or the ever popular, Charlie Browns Teacher WA, WA, WA, coming from the speaker?

• How about letting me order my own food, on my own time, in my own car?
• In fact when I pull up to the kiosk, my five kids and I can order the same thing we order all the time with one push of the touch screen.
• Guess what, as an owner I can also advertise my specials, adjust my prices, change my menu, and even offer an up-sell or two based on each customer’s previous buying patterns.
• Where do the kids go the minute they enter the restaurant? Yep, the playground. Unfortunately, mom is in line at the counter. Why not let her order from the kiosk out on the playground and keep an eye on the kids at the same time?
  
  ROI? Increased customer satisfaction and reduced headcount, you tell me….

IV. Lions and Tigers and Bears OH MY!! Oh and Kids Too!

Kiosks are playing a larger and larger role in Theme Parks, Water Parks, Zoos and Museums. New technologies have brought about several new useful applications. You will see them both inside and outside. The outside Kiosks are being used for applications such as:

• RFID Identification, adding both security and convenience for visitors.
• Ticket dispensing and ride time information.
• Mapping and directions.
• Interactive learning and information
  
  ROI? Maybe, maybe not, but if they entertain, inform or assist, there is a plus.

V. Ticket to Ride

If you have not seen or used a Kiosk the last time you had to fly, you must own your own private jet.
Yes, I know those are indoor Kiosks, but guess what, people also ride on buses and trains. ITS or Intelligent Transportation Systems are still growing. Now many mass transit companies are looking to enhance rider experiences with increased scheduling information and arrival and departure times.

How about a Kiosk on the platform or at the bus stop that:

• Provides up to the minute traffic and weather information
• Allows area businesses to advertise their product or service
• Provides schedule and connection information
• Prints maps
• Helps administer loyalty programs or collects rider information and feedback (hummmm, what could I do with that?)

ROI? Greater rider satisfaction, increased rider security, local advertising dollars….
